Florida Institute of Technology (FIT) is a private university, originally established in 1958 as Brevard Engineering College. The university was renamed in 1966 and founded by Dr. Jerome P. Keuper who envisioned it as a support to NASA. The university has been classified as R2: Doctoral Universities - High Research activity. Florida Tech has academic affiliations with Independent Colleges and Universities of Florida and Space Grant and has been accredited by SACS and ABET.
